Angry Apple customer smash!
A Frenchman this week visited an Apple Store in Dijon, where he calmly walked around the giant tables, removing iDevices from their stands and crushing them with a metal ball.
The video below, tweeted on Thursday by @quentin_IOS, begins with a series of loud bangs. As the videographer gets closer to the scene, the bespectacled man can be seen sedately demolishing iPhones, before moving on to a MacBook on a nearby table.
Shouting in French, he allegedly claims Cupertino refused to honor the EU requirement for two years of warranty coverage after purchase. (Not because the iPhone 7 doesn't have a headphone jack.)
As 9to5Mac points out, a siren can be heard in the background, suggesting staff members activated the fire alarm in an attempt to evacuate customers—most of whom were too intrigued to leave.
There are no reports of injuries, apart from the thousands of dollars in broken Apple products.
While Apple employees and bystanders look on, a mall security guard enters the store to escort the offender out. In two supporting videos (also below), the man's cool-and-collected attitude fades as he chats with a group of mall cops, one of whom he attempts to choke with his hand before attempting to flee.
The unidentified man was arrested and placed in custody; an investigation is ongoing, according to French media reports.
Apple did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.
In 2013, a woman had an epic meltdown at a Los Angeles Apple Store. But she just screamed at an employee; no Apple products were harmed.
Apple earlier this month unveiled the iPhone 7, which, as expected, ditches the headphone jack but adds water-resistance to protect against splashes and spills. It also sports a 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and 7-megapixel FaceTime HD shooter. Inside, the iPhone 7 lineup runs Apple's new A10 Fusion chip with 64-bit architecture and an embedded M10 motion coprocessor.
