Best Buy will sell the Apple iPad in all of its 1,093 U.S. stores beginning Sept. 26, the retailer said on Tuesday.

The company hopes to boost holiday sales, according to Bloomberg. Best Buy already sells the iPad via online (for in-store pick-up) and through Apple Shop locations within 673 Best Buy stores.

"Technology is becoming more and more personal, and our customers say they really value visiting a Best Buy store to touch and try the iPad for themselves," said Wendy Fritz, senior vice president of computing at Best Buy, in a statement. "We're delighted that we'll soon make that opportunity available to everyone who'd like to come see us, and experience this device in any Best Buy store nationwide."

Best Buy has previously had a relationship with Apple, adding the iPhone 4 to its product line on June 24.

Adding the iPad may mean that the Best Buy-branded tablet is dead; chief technology officer Robert Stevens released teaser photos of the tablet earlier this summer. A Best Buy representative did not immediately comment.

The announcement also puts the iPad more directly against the Kindle, as Best Buy plans to sell along with other e-readers like the Nook. Best Buy, however, is taking a more iPad-friendly approach than Amazon, which released a video ad comparing the Amazon Kindle and the iPad, to the iPad's detriment.
