Given the negative publicity surrounding the iPhone 4, last week wasn't exactly a banner week in Cupertino. But Apple is shaking it off and continuing with the global expansion of its other flagship product, the iPad.

Beginning this Friday, July 23, the popular tablet will be available in nine more countries including Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Singapore, Apple said Monday. The device will be made available through Apple retail stores and Authorized Resellers in those countries.

The device is already available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the US, bringing the total up to 19 countries.

In June, Apple said that the iPad had sold more than 3 million units.
