Apple on Tuesday announced that it had sold three million iPads in the first 80 days.
Apple's iPad sales are apparently accelerating, as the company reported that it had sold 2 million iPads within the first 60 days. Apple reported that it had sold 1 million iPads on May 3, after being on the market a bit less than a month.
"People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives," said Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive, in a statement. "We're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month."
Apple currently has 225,000 apps in its App Store, including 11,000 apps designed specifically for the iPad, Apple said.
