In a bid to fend off inroads from competitors like Apple Music and Tidal, Spotify is offering a freebie to customers who sign up for its premium service.

For a limited time, Spotify customers who buy three months of ad-free Spotify Premium for $29.97 will receive a free Chromecast, the company announced on Wednesday. The offer does not apply to those who live outside the U.S. or U.K., and is available through Feb. 28. In addition, Spotify says that customers are limited to one Chromecast per person.

Google's Chromecast is a peripheral that can be attached to a television to deliver streaming functionality. The device, which costs $35, supports a wide selection of apps, including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and others.

Spotify, meanwhile, is fighting in what has become an increasingly hostile music-streaming market. The company, which also offers a free, ad-supported streaming platform, has been facing salvos from Apple Music, Jay Z's Tidal, and other services.

For its part, Spotify is reportedly nearing 30 million paid subscribers (officially, it has 20 million). Apple Music, meanwhile has about 11 million paid subscribers. As of October, Tidal had about 1 million subscribers; it's currently the No. 3 app on the App Store, a position that was no doubt assisted by the Tidal-exclusive launch of Kanye West's latest album.

Exclusivity could become an issue for services like Spotify. Though it has over 30 million songs, high-profile artists like Taylor Swift eschewed Spotify for Apple Music. Adele's latest album, meanwhile, avoided streaming services altogether.
