LG today gave a sneak peek at its upcoming G Pad II 10.1, which will make its debut at next week's IFA trade show in Berlin.

The original G Pad 10.1 launched in May 2014. But the next-gen tablet sports a sharper 1,920-by-1,200 display and faster 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Its "long-lasting" 7,400mAh battery, however, falls short of its predecessor, which has an 8,000mAh battery.

Still, LG hopes to woo consumers with a sleek design, featuring "the slimmest bezel among similar-sized tablets currently on the market," the company said, adding that its slate provides "a truly immersive viewing experience."

Users can also tap into Reader Mode, which eases the e-reading experience by reducing the backlight's blue hue. The G Pad II 10.1 is also equipped with the Dual Window feature for multitasking and QuickMemo+ to share screenshots.

LG's tablet also comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office for Android Tablets and an additional 100GB of free OneDrive storage for two years.

Running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the new G Pad II 10.1 includes 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, plus room for more via a microSD slot. It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front shooter.

LTE and Wi-Fi versions of the next-gen tablet will be available in North America, Europe, and Asia following its official debut.

Pricing and launch details will be announced locally. Those visiting Germany's IFA event can get a close-up look at the LG G Pad II 10.1 in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from Sept. 4 to 9.
