Sony is reviving the Walkman for a new generation of on-the-go music lovers.

But don't expect the same bulky, cassette-playing brick you clipped to your belt in the 1980s.

Revamped for the digital age, the high-resolution Walkman NW-ZX2 boasts Bluetooth compatibility, 60-hour battery life, 128GB of internal storage capacity, and a body sculpted from solid aluminum.

Its S-Master HX full digital amplifier promises a "more authentic, emotionally involving musical experience," according to Sony, which said its advanced technology processes massive amounts of wide-bandwidth audio data while minimizing noise and distortion. Sony's new LDAC technology allows for high-quality wireless audio via Bluetooth by transmitting 3x the data. There's also one-touch listening via NFC.

Audiophiles and nostalgics alike can revel in the player's solid aluminum alloy frame—a step up from the plastic cover most remember. The new high-capacity Li-ion battery also boosts playback time, offering up to 60 hours of music on a single charge.

And with 128GB of internal storage—expandable to 256GB with an optional microSD card—means you'll never be at a loss for music.

But don't start pulling out the leg warmers and parachute pants just yet: The Walkman NW-ZX2 will go on sale in Europe starting this spring. There is no word on when U.S. sales will begin.

All that nostalgia won't come cheap: the updated classic will set buyers back a whopping $1,119.99, according to Time.

Sony did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.

Also at CES, Sony revealed a stainless steel SmartWatch 3, a new 4K TV lineup, and 4K action cams.
