Microsoft will reveal its first non-Nokia-branded Lumia smartphone on Tuesday.
In a very brief announcement, the tech giant tipped #MoreLumia on Nov. 11.
"Microsoft is delivering the power of everyday mobile technology to everyone," Redmond said in a blog post.
Following Microsoft's $7.2 billion acquisition of Nokia's handset business, the software maker last month dropped the Nokia moniker and began its transition to the new "Microsoft Lumia" name.
The rebranding comes as no surprise: Former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, now executive vice president of the Microsoft Devices Group, announced in April that the handset business would get a new name once the Microsoft deal was complete.
This move away from the Nokia name is likely intended to avoid confusion. Though it jettisoned its phone business, Nokia still exists, now with a focus on mapping and network infrastructure.
For now, Microsoft will continue selling entry-level Nokia phones, including the $25 Nokia 130, which will be joined by additional handsets in the future.
"The Lumia promise that you've come to experience and love will remain," Tuula Rytilä, senior vice president of marketing for Microsoft Phones, said in a blog post last month, suggesting the company is "looking forward to unveiling a Microsoft Lumia device soon."
As soon as next week, apparently.
And while the company did not directly reference the images posted to Rytilä's entry, it looks like the Microsoft name will be emblazoned on the front and/or rear of upcoming devices. Which can be expected in neon green (above) and orange, perhaps among other color options.
