Sony today confirmed that PlayStation 4 sales have topped 10 million.

"It's a remarkable milestone that reinforces PS4's record-breaking pace and the movement it has created among players globally in defining next generation gaming," Sony said today at the Gamescom conference.

The PS4 debuted in November and more than 1 million gamers picked one up in the first 24 hours. By early December, that number was at 2.1 million consoles sold worldwide, topping 5 million by February.

"Rest assured that the PS4 journey has just begun, and we'll continue the momentum this holiday season with blockbuster titles, including Destiny, Driveclub, Grand Theft Auto V, inFAMOUS First Light, Little Big Planet 3, and NBA 2K15, and innovative titles including Grim Fandango, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number and Minecraft," Sony said.

The company showed off several new trailers for its upcoming titles, including Driveclub, which saw its release date pushed back from the PS4 launch to 2014; it's now expected to hit stores on Oct. 7.

Gamers also got a glimpse at the trailer for Destiny (below), which arrives Sept. 9. Not to be outdone by Microsoft and its white Xbox One, Sony also announced a white PS4 Destiny bundle (pictured above), which is available for pre-order in the U.S. and Canada now for $449.99.

Sony also promised some PS4 updates, including the ability to upload game footage directly to YouTube, and "Share Play," where you can invite friends who don't own a particular game to join in.

My Experience

I started out covering tech policy in DC for The National Journal, where my beat included state-level tech news and all the congressional hearings and FCC meetings I could handle. I later covered Wall Street trading tech before switching gears to consumer tech. I now lead PCMag's news coverage.

My Areas of Expertise

Getting my start in DC means I still have a soft spot for tech policy; Congressional hearings can sometimes be as entertaining as a Bravo reality show, for better or worse. But PCMag is all about the technology we use every day, as well as keeping an eye out for the trends that will shape the industry in the years ahead (or flop on arrival). I've covered the rise of social media, the iOS vs. Android wars, the cord-cutting revolution that's now left us with hefty streaming bills, and the effort to stuff artificial intelligence into every product you could imagine. This job has taken me to CES in Vegas (one too many times), IFA in Berlin, and MWC in Barcelona. I also drove a Tesla 1,000 miles out west as part of our Best Mobile Networks project. Of late, my focus is on our hard-working team of reporters at PCMag, guiding and editing their robust coverage.
