It's only a matter of time before the life of the late Steve Jobs is made into a film, and according to Deadline, Sony is making a "hefty deal" to acquire the rights to his story.

Sony is allegedly willing to pony up as much as $3 million to buy the feature rights to Steve Jobs, the soon to be released biography of the Apple co-founder.

In the wake of Jobs' passing, publisher Simon & Schuster has pushed up the release date of his biography from November 21 to October 24. The book, by Walter Isaacson, immediately shot to number one on Amazon's bestsellers list on Wednesday night. It's currently topping Amazon's list as well as Barnes & Noble's bestsellers. It's also number one on Apple's iBooks platform.

Isaacson spent three years conducting "exclusive and unprecedented" interviews with famously private Jobs for the 448-page book. The biographer has also written about Henry Kissinger, Benjamin Franklin, and Albert Einstein.

When Jobs resigned from his post as Apple CEO in August, Simon & Schuster said Isaacson would update the book with details for its November publication. When news of his passing broke, the publisher moved the date to about two weeks from now.

Sony is the same studio behind the Oscar-nominated film The Social Network, which tells the story of the beginnings of Facebook. The studio has not spoken on the rumored plans to acquire the rights to Jobs' story, nor provided additional details about such a project.

Steve Jobs died on Wednesday at his home, surrounded by family. He was 56.
