If you’re aching to upgrade your old iPhone to the just-announced iPhone 4S, you’re in luck. Through its Reuse and Recycle program, Apple will pay you up to $200 for your old iPhone 4, depending on its condition.

Based on a series of questions about your iPhone, Apple will tell you what your phone might be worth. It asks you to specify the model, color, and amount of memory. Then it inquires about several things like if the screen is scratched, if the battery will fully charge, if the phone is water damaged, and details. After you fill out the questionnaire, Apple will give you an estimate for your old iPhone, as determined by a company called PowerON.

Apple calculated that for my 16GB black iPhone 4, it would pay me around $180. Granted, my phone is relatively new and it’s in impeccable condition. However, the actual value of my iPhone wouldn’t be determined unless I were to send it to PowerOn (and I haven’t decided if I want to upgrade yet).

But Apple isn’t the only company accepting old phones. eBay is offering $307.54 for 16GB iPhone 4s and $339.14 for 32GB iPhone 4s in excellent condition via eBay Instant Sale.

BuyMyTronics will also offer you up to $200 for your old iPhone 4 and up to $153 for an iPhone 3GS.

Apple on Tuesday unveiled the iPhone 4S, its fifth-generation smartphone, at an event in Cuptertino. On the outside it’s identical to the iPhone 4, but Apple has packed some new goodies on the inside including an dual-core A5 processor, a souped-up camera, Siri voice controls, and iOS 5.
