Spotify has added 2 million paid subscribers total, a rep confimed to PCMag.

According to the Business Insider, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek talked numbers in a pre-recorded interview on CNBC. The interview hasn’t aired yet, but a rep from the network alerted BI. A Spotify spokesperson wouldn't comment further.

In all, Spotify has reached a estimated 10 million paid and free users in the U.S., BI said.

At the beginning of August, Spotify had reportedly added 175,000 paid subscribers and 1.4 million users in all, but it appears the platform has grown significantly since then.

To put the numbers into perspective, Spotify has 1.6 million paid subscribers in Europe, where it’s available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Spain, the U.K., and the Netherlands. By contrast, Rhapsody has 800,000 paid users in the U.S.

Spotify launched in Europe in October 2008, but didn’t make it into the U.S. market until July of this year. It has also grown at a faster rate in the U.S., however the U.S. version offers more content and doesn’t yet have caps on the amount of time you can listen.

Spotify has an ad-supported free version that it plans to place limits on in the future, but it hasn’t released any details about what they will be or when they will roll out. Spotify also offers two paid options. For $4.99 a month, you can listen to everything you get on the free version, without ads. For $10 a month, you can access all of Spotify's tracks all the time, even offline, and you can stream songs via the Spotify Android and iPhone apps.

Ek is set to speak on a panel called “The Future of Digital Music” at Facebook’s f8 developer conference Thursday in San Francisco, where BI said it’s likely he’ll help announce the launch of Facebook’s rumored music product.

This story was corrected at 8:30am EST on Thursday to clarify that Spotify has reached two million paid listeners total, not two million since its U.S. launch.
