It's possible Netflix just ruined the weeks of many of its customers. The company announced on Monday a new pricing plan that hasn't exactly been well received. The new plan separates DVD rental and streaming options, essentially doubling the price of subscribing to both.

Effective September 1, Netflix's streaming-only service will cost $7.99 per month while DVD rentals will cost $7.99 for one disc at a time and $11.99 for two at a time. Renting one DVD at a time plus streaming, therefore, will jump to $15.98 a month from the current price of $9.99.

In just a day since it made the announcement, Netflix has been on the receiving end of a significant amount of backlash. There are already more than 11,000 complaints posted on the blog entry announcing the price change.

Netflix customers certainly have beef with the new plan, and these lamentations vary. Many customers are annoyed that Netflix will not offer a discount to those that want to subscribe to the streaming and DVD rental options. A significant number of users, many of which are long-term subscribers, are miffed that Netflix is not honoring their loyalty. Others aired their grievances about the dismal selection offered on Netflix's Watch Instantly service.

Some customers say they've already suspended their Netflix accounts. Others are left with a dilemma: will they cancel their account, opt for streaming- or DVD-only, or pony up the extra cash to continue to enjoy the whole shebang?

If you're a Netflix subscriber, what do you plan to do? Answer this PCMag poll and tell us what you've decided. Tell us why in the comments section, and if you're quitting Netflix, let us know which, if any, alternative you're going to select.
