The white iPhone 4 is coming! The white iPhone 4 is coming!

To many, reports of the rumored white iPhone 4 read like the children's book "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." But for others it's a very big deal, given that it's been 10 months since Apple first announced a white version (keep this up another 14 years and it'll beat Duke Nukem Forever's record).

But today the blogosphere was rife with screenshots of a white iPhone 4 showing up in Best Buy's inventory database, with an April 27 launch date, via 9to5 Mac. The pictures list both 16GB and 32GB versions, GSM only, at Best Buy locations around the U.S. According to the photos, most stores are only carrying ten 16GB units.

Meanwhile our sister publication, Geek.com, notes rumors that U.S. Apple Stores received promotional materials for the phone last week.

Apparently you can already buy a white iPhone 4 today in Belgium, if you believe the photos in a Macrumors forum and Belgian webstore promotion.

Last week, Engadget thrilled eager fans with photos of alleged white iPhone retail box from a British Vodafone U.K. customer. 9to5 Mac also received word from its own tipster that Dutch retailer BelCompany would begin selling 16GB iPhone 4s on April 27. An unconfirmed BelCompany memo further stated that "a limited number of retail stores will receive a single 32GB white iPhone."

On Monday, we read about a prototype white iPhone being tested on T-Mobile, but frankly this one is less likely given that T-Mobile's potential new partner, AT&T, already has a mature relationship with Apple.

Update: Apple announced Wednesday that the white iPhone 4 will go on sale Thursday, April 28.
