Looking to snag an iPad 2 this weekend? According to reports, Toys R Us will start selling the coveted tablet on Sunday, the same day that Best Buy is also expected to tap into its iPad 2 inventory.

9to5Mac reports that Toys R Us will have the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi versions of the iPad 2, as well as Apple's Smart Covers, starting tomorrow.

Reports of Toys R Us selling the tablet first emerged earlier this month. At the time, a Toys R Us employee supplied modmyi.com with a photo of an employee training guide used to prep workers for the launch. That guide said Toys R Us will also have the iPad Camera Connection Kit and a VGA connector on sale.

The retailer has not responded to requests for comment, but the Toys R Us Web site currently includes a shopping page with an iPad 2 banner.

Best Buy, meanwhile, is reportedly prepping to stock its shelves with more iPad 2s tomorrow. Business Insider reporter Steve Kovach said his local paper featured a prominent ad for the tablet this morning. As he noted, "Best Buy doesn't advertise hot gadgets like this unless they have a few to go around."

Best Buy has not yet made any mention of an iPad 2 influx on its Facebook or Twitter pages.

Earlier this month, there were reports that Apple had banned Best Buy from selling the iPad 2 after it mishandled their sales, an accusation Best Buy denied. The retailer reportedly told shoppers that the device was out of stock, when in reality Best Buy had just reached a pre-determined daily sales quota and was holding iPad 2s in the back.

"This is a customary practice for us when there are supply constraints," Best Buy said at the time. "Best Buy enjoys a great partnership with Apple and we're delighted by customer response to iPad 2."

Given that demand, it's best to call your local Toys R Us or Best Buy before heading out tomorrow.

My Experience

I started out covering tech policy in DC for The National Journal, where my beat included state-level tech news and all the congressional hearings and FCC meetings I could handle. I later covered Wall Street trading tech before switching gears to consumer tech. I now lead PCMag's news coverage.

My Areas of Expertise

Getting my start in DC means I still have a soft spot for tech policy; Congressional hearings can sometimes be as entertaining as a Bravo reality show, for better or worse. But PCMag is all about the technology we use every day, as well as keeping an eye out for the trends that will shape the industry in the years ahead (or flop on arrival). I've covered the rise of social media, the iOS vs. Android wars, the cord-cutting revolution that's now left us with hefty streaming bills, and the effort to stuff artificial intelligence into every product you could imagine. This job has taken me to CES in Vegas (one too many times), IFA in Berlin, and MWC in Barcelona. I also drove a Tesla 1,000 miles out west as part of our Best Mobile Networks project. Of late, my focus is on our hard-working team of reporters at PCMag, guiding and editing their robust coverage.
