Spotify is launching in Germany on Tuesday.

Though it is available in the U.S., the U.K., and nine other countries, this is Spotify's first entry into Europe's largest economy.

Spotify announced the news in a blog post.

Similar to the 12 other countries where Spotify is offered, users will have three choices of streaming services from which to choose. Spotify Free is the ad-supported version. Spotify Unlimited is the ad-free version, which costs 4.99 Euros per month ($4.99 in the U.S.), and Spotify Premium, which costs 9.99 Euros a month ($9.99 in the U.S.), gives users ad-free music plus streaming on its Android and iPhone apps.

It's taken Spotify a while to get off the ground in Germany, likely due to the country's high licensing costs. As GigaOm pointed out, Spotify and Gema, Germany's music licensing agency, have reportedly been stuck in negotiations for a long time. In fact, high royalty rates in the country caused another popular streaming service, Grooveshark, to abandon its service there.

Meanwhile, Spotify was leaning on the excuse that it was delayed by translating the platform into the German language. However, the service has been available in German since at least November, when it went live in Austria.

Spotify has not commented on negotiations in Germany and did not immediately respond to questions from PCMag.

The company has reached 10 million users total, 3 million of which pay for the service, Spotify confirmed in January.
