3.5 Good

The Bottom Line

The Enermax Aurora Premium has plenty of form, but lacks some function. Though as a generic keyboard it serves users well, the price is too high considering that the better Enermax Caesar KB005U costs just six dollars more.

Pros & Cons

    • Attractive design.
    • Good tactile feedback.
    • Has USB, audio ports.
    • A bit pricy.
    • Keyboard audio disables PC-attached speakers.
    • No real wrist pad.
    • No hotkeys.

The Enermax Aurora Premium has fewer features than the Enermax Caesar KB005U, but with the same brushed-aluminum body (although not the metal-mesh surround) it still looks stylish. Though the keys have a short travel, the give plenty of tactile and aural feedback. The keyboard's back feet adjust to position the working surface at two different angles. At 2.87 pounds, the case is lighter than that of the Caesar, and at 18 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and slightly less than an inch high, it's also smaller. Unfortunately, that makes the oversize Enter key rather annoying because it cramps other keys. Also, the Caps Lock key is prone to accidental presses. On the left side of the keyboard you'll find audio and microphone jacks, which are convenient, but using the audio connector disables speakers plugged into your PC. While the Enermax Aurora Premium is solid, for $69 it offers too little when you can get the Caesar for just six bucks more.
