Pros & Cons

Update: At press time Apple launched its iTunes Music store for Windows. Stay tuned for a full review of the service.

Apple's entry into the music market has made big waves with 99-cent downloads, no membership fees, and liberal copy restrictions. The formula seems to be working, even though the Apple iTunes Music Store isn't available for Windows users (that will change by the end of the year). Also, the library here is modest, with a large variety of songs from popular artists from all five major labels but no independents (that should also change soon).

Users browse the store through iTunes, where they can also hear 30-second samples of every song. The interface is clean and simple.
