Google is boosting its security cred on Blogger.

The company on Tuesday announced that all blogspot sites will now come with HTTPS, ensuring that visitors can access the pages over an encrypted channel. Google started an initial rollout in September; it's now available platform-wide.

To ensure that all blogspot sites are encrypted, Google is removing the "HTTPS Availability" setting. "Even if you did not previously turn on this setting, your blogs will have an HTTPS version enabled," Google says.

In its place, Google has added an HTTPS Redirect setting, allowing blog owners to opt in to redirect HTTP requests to HTTPS.

"While all blogspot blogs will have an HTTPS version enabled, if you turn on this new setting, all visitors will be redirected to the HTTPS version of your blog...even if they go to" the http version, Google says. "If you choose to turn off this setting, visitors will have two options for viewing your blog: the unencrypted version...or the encrypted version."

Existing links and bookmarks to Blogspot blogs will still work, Google says. HTTPS is not yet activated on custom domains, though.

The update is part of a broader effort at Google to expand HTTPS security across its many products, dubbed HTTPS Everywhere.
