Starting later in October, Amazon Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ and watch the streaming service's shows from the Prime Video app.

For years, Amazon has allowed you to sign up for third-party streaming services on its site, from Paramount+ and Starz to MGM+ and AMC+. There are currently more than 100 available video services within Prime Video. You don't get a discount if you subscribe through Amazon; the idea is to consolidate subscriptions and billing under one company—Amazon.

As such, subscribing to Apple TV+ via Prime Video is still $9.99 per month, just as it is when you sign up via your iPhone or iPad.

The move will bring all of Apple’s original content to Prime Video, offering access to shows like Ted Lasso, Severance, and Slow Horses, as well as Friday Night Baseball games when it returns for the 2025 Major League Baseball season.

The goal here seems to be wider distribution. "We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible," Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services, says in Amazon's press release. "We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options."

Apple TV+ has a strong library of critically acclaimed content, but some have complained that Apple doesn't do a great job promoting upcoming shows or movies. Others may be under the impression that Apple TV+ is only available on Apple devices. It's available across devices.

The Prime Video app, meanwhile, has been available on Apple TV since 2017, following a spat between Apple and former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos over sales of the Apple TV set-top box.

My Expertise

I’ve contributed to PCMag since 2019, covering Apple, electric vehicles, and lots of other consumer electronics. If a gadget plugs into a wall or uses a battery, there’s a good chance I’ve tested it and have some thoughts about its place in our daily lives. I write featured articles, how-to guides, and daily news.

My Experience

I got my first taste of writing about technology for Fast Company in 2013, mostly how it intersected with the music industry. Since then I’ve written for dozens of publications and explored all other facets of service journalism, from reviews to buying guides. At one point, I took a break from journalism for a few years to work at a technology startup and then an industry Goliath, both valuable experiences in understanding how the business of tech works from top to bottom.
