During football season, millions of Americans glue their eyeballs to their television screens to catch hard-hitting NFL matchups every week. However, there’s something extra special about watching the big Thanksgiving football games. Surrounded by food and family, with no reason to leave the couch, you can lazily absorb all the pigskin action.

It’s a tradition, one made even more convenient by modern technology. If you plan to cut the cord with the same glee as cutting the Butterball, use this guide to catch the NFL's Thanksgiving football games by firing up a streaming TV service.

How to Stream the NFL Thanksgiving Games

Live sports is where traditional TV still has a lot of power and influence. For example, Amazon is the exclusive home for Thursday Night Football, but Thanksgiving is the exception (Amazon’s game gets bumped to Black Friday). However, you can still catch the gridiron action with a streaming TV service.

CBS and NBC offer sports with their streaming service counterparts, Paramount+ and Peacock, respectively. Dedicated live TV streaming services, while pricey, fully replace cable. You can watch dozens of those network channels via online streaming by subscribing to one. Our top picks include Fubo, Hulu, and YouTube TV. These services let you stream every Thanksgiving NFL game this year.

Which NFL Teams Play on Thanksgiving Day?

The NFL has three games slated for November 28, split across three traditional TV networks. In a nice touch, they're spaced far enough apart so that you have time to view all three games, not just your favorite team. The matchups are:

  • Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions at 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS
  • New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. EST on FOX
  • Miami Dolphins vs Green Bay Packers at 8:20 p.m. EST on NBC, Telemundo, and Universo

Who's Performing During the Halftime Shows?

The Thanksgiving football games may not be the Super Bowl, but they still draw big-name entertainers to perform for the huge crowds during halftime. Rising country music star Shaboozey will play during the Bears-Lions game. Lainey Wilson, another country musician, will perform during the Cowboys-Giants matchup. Finally, violinist Lindsey Stirling takes the stage during the Dolphins-Packers game.

Jordan Minor

Principal Writer, Software

My PCMag career began in 2013 as an intern. Now, I'm a senior writer, using the skills I acquired at Northwestern University to write about dating apps, meal kits, programming software, website builders, video streaming services, and video games. I was previously a senior editor at Geek.com and have written for The A.V. Club, Kotaku, and Paste Magazine. I'm the author of the gaming history book Video Game of the Year: A Year-by-Year Guide to the Best, Boldest, and Most Bizarre Games from Every Year Since 1977, and the reason everything you know about Street Sharks is a lie.

The Technology I Use

I use the newest Android and iOS smartphones for testing, but I currently use an iPhone 14 as my personal phone. I just hate that we gave up headphone jacks.

I've always favored gaming laptops over desktops. On that note, I have a 16-inch HP Envy with an Intel Core i9-13900H CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. No matter what machine I’m working on, an alarming amount of my personal and professional life revolves around cloud-synced Google Drive files.

For food subscriptions, my household sticks with CookUnity and HelloFresh for meals. Video streaming is a bit more complicated. While there are too many services to list, we're subscribed to most of the major ones. These days, I find myself drawn to HBO Max's movies and shows, as well as Peacock's reality trash.

I've been a lifelong Nintendo fan, and I sincerely believe the Nintendo Switch will go down as one of the best gaming consoles of all time. It has an unbelievable library of new and old games from Nintendo and third-party companies. The handheld/console hybrid approach makes playing games so much more flexible, a legacy that continues with the Nintendo Switch 2 and Valve’s Steam Deck.
