Topping tech headlines over the weekend, Apple took its developer website offline after a hacker attempted to steal personal information from its database.

According to Cupertino, "an intruder [on Thursday] attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website." While the data is encrypted and cannot be accessed, the tech giant said, it is possible some developers' names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses were hacked.

In other news, Nvidia announced a new shipping date for the Shield handheld gaming device. The new date — July 31 — falls almost a full month after the Android-based device was supposed to launch, on June 27. Nvidia blamed the delay on a glitch with a third-party mechanical component, though offered no further details. The Shield is still available for preorder for $299 (down from the original $349).

Meanwhile, popular blogging site Tumblr has offered something of an explanation regarding rumors that the service was making it more difficult for users to find inappropriate content. "We've heard from a bunch of you who are concerned about Tumblr censoring NSFW/adult content," CEO David Karp wrote in a blog post. In response, Tumblr is removing the "Adult" flag as an option for criteria; those blogs can be tagged as "NSFW" and their content won't be blocked from third-party search engines.
