The worst kept secret in the video games industry this year has reared its head again today. Microsoft's own Xbox Game Pass Ultimate literature confirms the Xbox Series S is a real console even though Microsoft continues not to talk about it.

Twitter user Brendan (@BraviaryBrenden) tweeted two photos of a new Xbox One controller he purchased directly from Microsoft. There's nothing unusual about the controller, but if you focus on the second shot, it shows the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 14-day free trial code sheet. The second line of text below the image on the sheet reads, "Includes Xbox Live Gold and unlimited access to over 100 high-quality games on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Windows 10."

So there you have it. A controller shipped directly from Microsoft includes confirmation the Xbox Series S is real. Either that, or someone really screwed up writing out the text for the code sheet. In reality, it seems as though code sheets meant to be held back for the launch of the Series X in November have made their way into controller boxes early.

This is the second time an Xbox controller has included reference to the expected budget-friendly Series S console. The first happened last month when the Series S name was printed on the packaging for a Series X | S controller that was sold on mobile-first marketplace OfferUp. With two official Microsoft products confirming the existence of the Series S, Xbox boss Phil Spencer surely has to react soon and decide to finally reveal what the Series S is exactly and how much it will cost.
