If you've been putting off getting a TV, now's an ideal time. Early spring is when we typically start seeing deep discounts on the previous year's TVs to prepare for the newest models hitting stores, and Amazon’s Big Spring Sale is further trimming those prices for the next few days. I already recommend buying a year-old TV if you're looking to get the most bang for your buck, and right now, two of my top picks of 2025 are especially good deals. The standout is the Hisense 65U8QG, a high-end 65-inch mini-LED TV available for $847.96, or 43% off its typical everyday price.

Hisense 65U8QG Deal: The Best 65-Inch Mini-LED TV for Almost Half-Off

The 65-inch U8QG delivers an incredibly bright picture at 3,200 nits, one of the highest I've tested in this size, and it shows deep blacks thanks to its mini-LED backlight. As a QLED TV, its colors are similarly fantastic, covering almost the entire DCI-P3 color space with impressive accuracy. Just put the TV in HDR Theater or Dolby Vision IQ mode, and its colors will be close to spot-on with no other adjustments.

A powerful sound system backs up the gorgeous panel. Instead of typical stereo speakers, the U8QG has a 4.1.2-channel speaker setup with side- and up-firing drivers. It can produce a much bigger and more precise sound field than most TVs, supporting Dolby Atmos spatial audio.

The rest of the TV's feature set is also strong. It features Google TV with hands-free Gemini assistance and supports both Google Cast and Apple AirPlay streaming. Gamers will appreciate its 165Hz native refresh rate with VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

The 65U8QG launched last year with an official everyday price of $1,499.99, so getting it for less than $850 is an incredible deal. That doesn't mean it'll go back to its original price after the Spring Sale, though; the TV was $1,299.99 at the beginning of the year, and has fluctuated between $900 and $1,000 since mid-January. Still, $847.96 is the best price I've seen for it yet.

Hisense 75U65QF Deal: A Budget Big-Screen for Less Than $600

If you want to spend even less and get an even bigger screen, the 75-inch Hisense 75U65QF is also on sale at $597.96, down from $899.99. The U65QF was easily my favorite budget TV of 2025. Like the U8QG, it's a mini-LED QLED TV, so it has deep blacks and great color. It isn't nearly as bright as the U8QG, but it still puts out 1,024 nits, which is incredible at this price range. Put simply: It looks great.

There are a few other compromises. The U65QF doesn't have a fancy spatial audio speaker system like the more expensive U8QG, and it runs Amazon's Fire TV platform instead of Google TV, with no hands-free voice control support at all. It's a great TV for gamers, though, with a 144Hz refresh rate, VRR, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. And again, it's a top-rated 75-inch TV for less than $600. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better value.

Both of these Hisense TVs are great picks worth your consideration, but they're not the only discounts to be found this week. Be sure to check out the rest of our coverage of Amazon's Big Spring Sale.

My Experience

I’m PCMag’s home theater and AR/VR expert, and your go-to source of information and recommendations for game consoles and accessories, smart displays, smart glasses, smart speakers, soundbars, TVs, and VR headsets. I’m an ISF-certified TV calibrator and THX-certified home theater technician, I've served as a CES Innovation Awards judge, and while Bandai hasn’t officially certified me, I’m also proficient at building Gundam plastic models up to MG-class. I also enjoy genre fiction writing, and my urban fantasy novel, Alex Norton, Paranormal Technical Support, is currently available on Amazon.

The Technology I Use

Where to start? I have a standard IT-issued Lenovo Thinkpad for writing and editing, supplemented with an iPad Air and an 8Bitdo Retro Keyboard when I want to write on the go. I also have a Lenovo Legion Go as a platform for running Portrait Displays’ Calman software and controlling the Klein K-10A colorimeter, Murideo SIX-G signal generator, and Leo Bodnar 4K Video Signal Lag Tester I use for testing TVs.

For gaming, I use a Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, and a GeForce 5080-equipped MSI gaming laptop. I like collecting retro games as well, and have an Analogue Pocket and a ton of classic consoles and portables. Photography is another interest, and I use a Sony A7 IV when I’m shooting products and events, and a Fujifilm X-Pro3 for my own attempts at visual creativity. And for reading and writing, I’ve become partial to the Kobo Sage for books and the ReMarkable 2 with Type Folio.

When it comes to phones and tablets, I’m pretty platform-agnostic. I use a Google Pixel 8 for my phone and an iPad Air for a tablet. Android, iOS, and iPadOS are all totally fine, but I need a Windows PC. MacOS just isn’t for me.
