The TVs Samsung is announcing ahead of CES come with a number of upgrades, from greater bit depths and enhanced processing to new sizes and display finishes. But there's also something for the crypto fans: the ability to organize and display your NFTs.

An updated Smart Hub on 2022 MicroLED, Neo QLED, and The Frame TVs will include an NFT Platform "for discovering, purchasing, and trading digital artwork," Samsung says.

"With demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater," Samsung says. "With the new Platform, you can preview an NFT before purchasing it and even learn about its history—from who created it, to what comprises its blockchain metadata."

When it comes to admiring your NFT purchases, a Smart Calibration feature allows for picture quality adjustments: Basic mode for a "quick and easy way of calibrating the screens within 30 seconds"; and Professional mode for "pristine picture quality in about 10 minutes."

Though they've been around for awhile, NFTs really burst onto the scene last year as a unique unit of cryptocurrency. They are digital certificates for intellectual property that are stored on the blockchain. Opinions on the technology vary; is it modern-day art collection or a scam that rips off artists and kills the environment? The jury's still out, but for those who own NFTs, Samsung's new TVs will offer a new way to display them and enhance their library.

Samsung is no stranger to displaying art on its screens. The latest MicroLED TV models will include their own Art Mode for displaying artwork and digital photography, while Samsung’s The Frame is purpose-built to appear like a framed piece of art.

Samsung has also enhanced the display on 2022 models of The Frame, giving it a matte display for low reflectivity and high visibility, which could come in handy for displaying artwork and NFTs. That matte display is also coming to The Sero and The Serif, though Samsung didn’t say whether those two models would get the NFT platform, too.

My Experience

I've covered the technology field for a decade, beginning a freelance career in 2017 and working with numerous publications, including PCMag since 2021. I have reviewed hundreds of products with a particular emphasis on computers and the broad field of peripherals, especially audio gear. At PCMag, I contribute audio device reviews of products like headphones and speakers, in addition to reviews of Windows laptops.

The Tech I Use

As a voracious reviewer, I'm cycling through different hardware at almost every corner of my life. My desk sees new speakers, monitors, keyboards, mice, computers, and laptops come across non-stop. I stick with Windows systems, as I have since I was a child, and can't get away from the familiarity with its organization and the many keyboard shortcuts that are now down to muscle-memory and all too essential to my workflows. On mobile, I've stuck with Android for its flexibility, though which phone is in my hand on any given day is a constant question.

I keep an old pair of Monolith M570 open-back planar magnetic headphones around for focused listening and earbuds in my pocket to listen to podcasts on walks and bike rides. I keep a Logitech Wave Keys keyboard on my desk to enjoy its comfort and ergonomics as I type out thousands of words every week. Underneath my desk is a Lian Li 011 Air Mini case holding an ever-changing PC geared for testing speakers, monitors, gaming peripherals, and whatever else might come across my desk.
