Apple iPad (4th Generation, Wi-Fi)

The new fourth-generation Apple iPad looks just like the third-generation model, with a high-resolution, 9.7-inch Retina display. There's a 1.2-megapixel camera with HD video recording above the screen.

The 9.7-inch iPad (at left) has the same proportions as the iPad mini (at right).

The iPad has a curved metal back that tapers to an edge.

The new iPad uses Apple's Lightning connector, which means you'll need to get new accessories or use adapters.

iOS 6, running on the new iPad, works just like previous versions of iOS.

The iPad has a 5-megapixel camera on the back.

The Retina display makes apps on the iPad looks very sharp, and the new A6X processor is notably faster than the previous model's A5.

Neither the new iPad nor the iPad mini is properly a one-handed tablet, but you can manage to hold either of them in one hand for a while.

The iPad mini is noticeably slimmer than the new iPad, but then again it's also less powerful.
