Report: iPad Pro With MiniLED Display Faces Production Problems

Apple is expected to launch a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablet this year, using MiniLED display technology. However, if the launch goes ahead as planned, don't expect there to be much stock available.

As Bloomberg reports, the new iPad Pro may be using new display technology which is sure to impress, but it's proving extremely difficult to manufacture the panels. The yields Apple's manufacturing partners are achieving are thought to be poor, meaning stock levels will remain lower than expected ahead of the launch.

Apple's announcement of two new iPad Pro models is expected before the end of April. Only one of those models is set to use a MiniLED display, so the other model should be much more readily available. It could also mean that Apple unveils the higher end model, but delays the launch until later in the year when it has a larger reserve of stock ready to ship.

The existing iPad Pro launched a year ago and offered anyone willing to spend $799 on a tablet a lightning fast experience with a beautiful display and high-quality camera. With that in mind, the move to MiniLED technology must surely set a new bar for tablet displays if Apple believes it offers a better experience than the 2020 model.
