Making a trivia game is easy. Rewriting the trivia formula, though, is a bit harder. While Buzz Quiz TV doesn't break new ground or hit on a whole new category of inane knowledge (its categories are, more or less, reworded slices of Trivial Pursuit pie), it does earn tons of points for presentation. The questions asked of the players by the animated Buzz (who is startlingly reminiscent of Whose Line Is It Anyway?'s Greg Proops, by the way) aren't really challenging, but the way you earn points (and take them from your competition) is nothing short of hysterical: One round is an animated game of hot potato with a lit bomb, another arms you with pies to knock out your competition, and a third lets the player who answers correctly swipe points from whomever they choose. The avatars include a cheerleader, disco dancer, a mime, and a Kill Bill–style vixen, and watching them interact is the biggest appeal of the game play itself. Aside from schooling your friends, of course.
