True Key by Intel Security

Despite the name, True Key by Intel Security is a McAfee product at present. Its Launchpad manifests as an app on Android or iOS, but is strictly a browser extension on Windows or macOS. Clicking any tile launches the corresponding website and logs in.

Viewing saved logins by rows rather than tiles limits the number you see at once, but shows more information about each. Here True Key is running on a Mac.

When True Key captures your login credentials, it slides down a notification at the top of the page. This banner also lets you cancel the capture, or mark the site so True Key never saves login credentials.

When you revisit a site that has credentials saved, True Key fills them in for you. If you have more than one set, it pops up an in-place menu to help you choose.

This montage shows several phases in user verification. At first installation on the iPhone, it sent an email verification request. After verification, it offered to make the iPhone a trusted device. Finally, when adding yet another device, it sent a verification request to the iPhone.

For devices with a camera, True Key supports face recognition as an authentication mechanism. In testing, it proved effective, with face data captured on an Android device working just fine on iPhone and Mac.

A static facial recognition system could conceivably be fooled by a photo of your face. To eliminate that possibility, you can enable enhanced face recognition, which requires you to turn your head.

At the basic authentication level, you must be logging in from a trusted device and have one other authentication factor such as master password, face recognition, or fingerprint verification. If you choose advanced authentication, it requires a trusted device plus two other factors.

Under iOS, True Key doesn't install in Safari as a standard browser extension. However, you can add an extension to the share icon that lets you fill passwords in Safari, and in any app that supports the share icon.

With most password managers, if you forget the master password you're hosed. True Key lets you authenticate using multiple other factors and then reset the master. In testing, I found that it wanted a trusted device, enhanced face recognition, and confirmation from a second trusted device.
