Pros & Cons

Though its price is in line with novice applications, ArcSoft's PhotoStudio 2000 is a capable image editor that resembles powerful hobbyist programs. The interface is straightforward, and like the other hobbyist programs, it uses toolbars that provide control over tasks. The program includes tools for common tasks, such as removing red eye and adjusting color, brightness, and contrast. PhotoStudio also supports layers, masks, and batch processing, as well as boasting a strong set of special effects. Unfortunately, PhotoStudio is weak at printing; it can print only a single image on a single page. The handy Album Palette lets you organize images. Thumbnails, however, are tiny, making it difficult to distinguish between similar images.
