Twitter users have been crying out for an edit button for years, and now it looks as though we could be about to get one. That is, if you're willing to pay for a Twitter subscription.

Jane Manchun Wong, who has a good reputation for uncovering new features before companies are prepared to talk about them, has discovered Twitter is planning a subscription service. It's called Twitter Blue and will initially be priced at $2.99 per month. In return, premium users can expect a number of nice-to-have features.

Top of the premium feature list is expected to be "Undo Tweets," which Wong posted evidence of back in March. Whenever you post a tweet an Undo button will appear with a timer built in allowing a few seconds to change your mind and stop the tweet going live.

Another premium feature is called "Collections," which allows you to "save and organize your favorite tweets into Collections so that they're easier to find later." Think of it like your bookmarks in a web browser, only this would be folders full of tweets you want to organize instead.

On the screenshot Wong shares, Twitter states the service auto-renews every month and can be canceled at anytime. That suggests to me there won't be a yearly subscription option offered, at least not to begin with. It's also unlikely this is a complete list of the features Twitter Blue will include (no ads?), and can't be if Twitter expects $3 a month from a user.

This isn't the first time we've heard about a Twitter subscription, but it's the first to include images and some concrete details of what to expect. It's been a long time coming, with a team called Gryphon reported as working on it in July last year followed by another report back in February saying it was still in the early stages of development. Now we just need to have it official confirmed and a launch date revealed.
