(OnePlus 7 Pro)

New renders of Oppo's upcoming foldable flagship smartphone tip a pop-up camera and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The renders, first reported by LetsGoDigital, are based on World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) filings. This does not necessarily mean the features will make it into the phone itself, but the renders indicate a slide-up camera similar to that seen on the OnePlus 7 Pro, allowing for a full-screen display without a notch like the one seen on the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

The renders also mean Oppo's smartphone will have an extra feature in comparison to the other mainstream foldable, the Huawei Mate X; users of Huawei's upcoming phone will have to use Bluetooth headphones, as the device does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

However, the foldable phone space remains plagued with difficulties: Samsung's Galaxy Fold was scheduled to launch on April 26 (and later in June) with a starting price of $1,980, but numerous faults in the hardware meant Samsung had to recall every device given to reviewers and eventually postpone shipping for all customers. And Huawei, of course, if having troubles of its own.

As such, it's possible that the only foldable device we could see in the near future is Oppo's, giving the company the edge over what could be the next flagship form factor. That is, unless Xiaomi gets there first.

This isn't the only new smartphone design Oppo has been working on; recently, the company showed off a new under-the-screen camera that completely removes the notch.
