Inform (Beta)

At first glance, the Inform Front Page looks similar to the Google News home page.

Click on a story and the Discovery Area will open, showing you the source page.

Hot Channels tracks hot topics across multiple news categories, though clicking on each one doesn't always result in relevant stories (at least in the current beta).

You can also click on a subject (listed in the toolbar immediately below the tabs at the top of the screen) and view current top news stories in that subject of interest.

Create a log-on on the Inform site and you'll be able to add specific channels, though this is another feature that's currently still under development.

One of the best features of the Inform site is the Discovery Path. Use it to click on multiple, relevant search terms that will bring up highly targeted news story results.

Inform's tutorial page and FAQ are very useful; you'll need to read them at least once in order to understand Inform's main features.
