Alfred (for Mac)

Alfred (for Mac) is a free application that allows you to create very simple yet powerful keyboard shortcuts for searching your computer and launching application and files.

A hotkey that you specify will pull the Alfred search bar. Type any characters in the field and Alfred will find applications and files that use those combinations of letters. Press enter or the down arrow key or the keyboard shortcut shown at the right of the item you want, and Alfred launches the application or file.

You can turn on or off different system actions for Alfred as well.

Customizing the results helps ensure that Alfred finds what you are likely to be searching for.

You can also configure Alfred to search the Web without having to first launch a Web browser.
