Pros & Cons

The Ultra X4 ($99.99 direct) is a 500-watt, modular power supply unit (PSU) that sports a 135 millimeter low-noise fan and is ATI CrossFire certified for multiple AMD/ATI video cards. Its modular design allows users to plug in just what's necessary without the hanging cords of normal PSUs.

Design and Features
This model was built with the ATX form factor, boasting an all-black design with its logo embossed in its side. Up top is its exhaust fan while its back is made up of perforated metal surrounding its power output and power switch. The other end is where you will find several pin connectors including the 24-pin motherboard connectors, two PCI connections (one is a 6-pin while the other is 8-pin) a SATA power connection, a 4-pin Molex connector and two more motherboard connectors—4-pin and 8-pin. This can all be wrapped in an optional silicone vibration dampener designed to reduce noise levels.

The Ultra X4 is 80 Plus certified, meaning that it runs at 80 percent efficiency and wastes less energy while in use. Circuit protection and thermal overload sensors were also integrated into this model to prevent damage to PCs during power surges or overheating. Ultra provides all the necessary screws, thumb screws, cables Velcro straps and zip ties you'll need to install the X4 Modular PSU.
