Google Picasa 3.9

Picasa groups images for import by time periods. You can view photos before import, and star or exclude them, but you can apply tags or effects during import.

Lots of organization choices here: Albums, People, Projects, and computer folders. Note across the top are buttons for limiting the view to just starred photos, uploaded content, pictures with people, movies, or geo-tagged images.

At the left are your editing choices, with two new effect tabs. Note also the side-by side comparison buttons, labeled AB and AA, at top right.

The crop tool is very flexible and easy to use. Just drag a box around the part you want to keep. You can constrain the crop to presets like square and 4:3, or your own custom aspect ratio.

Picasa can place your photos on a map, which will also show up in the online galleries.

Picasa finds all your photos that contain faces, and lets you attach a name to them. After naming several images, the application will start to suggest names for new photos.

You can even create a slideshow movie of all the photos containing one person's face.

The text tool in Picasa lets you style and place a title with great flexibiity.
