Pros & Cons

    • Large battery capacity.
    • Supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, USB-C, and pass-through charging.
    • Display shows power level.
    • Relatively affordable.
    • Bulky.

If you're going on a long trip with lots of gadgets, you're going to want to pack a power bank with the highest battery capacity and as many charging ports as you can reasonably carry. In these regards, and a number of others, the iMuto Portable Charger X6 Pro excels. For a relatively affordable $99.99, you get 30,000mAh of power with dual USB-A ports, a USB-C port, fast charging, and pass-through charging. It's just about everything you need for powering up on the go, making the X6 Pro our Editors' Choice for high-capacity backup batteries.

Design and Features

iMuto unapologetically embraces the power brick. The X6 Pro is a thick, heavy slab of hard black plastic with a dull gold polycarbonate band running along the sides. It measures 6.7 by 3.4 by 1.2 inches (HWD) and weighs a hefty 1.5 pounds. It's a little bigger than the Anker PowerCore+ 26800 USB-C PD (6.5 by 3.1 by 0.9 inches, 1.3 pounds), and a bit smaller than the Mophie Powerstation AC (7.5 by 4.5 by 1.1 inches, 1.7 pounds). When it comes to portability, all of these batteries will need to be carried in a bag rather than a pocket.

The one distinctive—and very much welcome—design feature is a small monochrome display on the front of the battery. It shows you the percentage of power left, which is a level of accuracy you don't get on most other batteries that use LED lights to give you a vague approximation. A Power/Status button on the top right edge lights activates the display.

A micro USB port for charging the battery itself is on the left side. It supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging, which varies the voltage between 5V/2A, 9V/2A, and 12V/1.5A when using a compatible adapter (not included). Plugging in with a Quick Charge adapter and cable, we measured voltage at 7.33V/1.91A, which is in line with the standard.

On the top you'll find one USB-C and two USB-A ports. The USB-A port highlighted in green supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, dynamically varying voltage between 3.2V to 20V; we measured it at 9.1V/1.96A with the LG V30+. The other USB-A port is a standard 5V/2.4A port, which we measured at 5.03V/1.79A. The USB-C port is capable of both input and output, and can charge devices at 5V/3A.

The X6 Pro is capable of pass-through and simultaneous charging, allowing you to charge multiple devices at once, while the battery itself is being charged through the micro USB port.

Performance and Conclusions

The 30,000mAh X6 Pro has plenty of ports and enough juice to charge compatible laptops, along with phones, tablets, and other mobile devices. It added 11 hours, 43 minutes to a MacBook streaming video over Wi-Fi at maximum screen brightness. That's more than the 22,000mAh Mophie PowerStation AC (7 hours, 15 minutes) and 26,800mAh PowerCore+ (9 hours, 17 minutes). Unlike the Powerstation AC, however, the X6 Pro lacks an AC port, so you can only charge USB-C laptops.

The iMuto Portable Charger X6 Pro is a true traveler's battery. If you're going to be without access to an outlet for an extended period of time, the Pro holds a ton of power and has plenty of high-power ports to keep all of your devices going. While it doesn't have an AC port like the Powerstation, it costs half as much, has a higher capacity, and comes with more ports that support fast charging. It's an excellent value for the price, and earns our Editors' Choice award.
