While not as open or full-featured as Skype, FaceTime provides OS X and iOS users simple, crisp video conferencing

Apple ID

If you don't already have one, it's easy to create an Apple ID without leaving FaceTime.

Making a Call

Callling another Mac or iOS device is as easy as clicking the name of a contact. FaceTime uses an email address or phone number to connect.

Desktop-to-Desktop

Here's some sample video of my Macbook-to-Macbook video chat with Michael Muchmore. It's still early.

Full-Screen Mode

There are three options in video chat: mute, disonnect, and full-screen mode. Here's a sample frame.

Desktop-to-Mobile

I also tried calling Alex Colon, who wrote the review of FaceTime Mobile. He spoke via an iPhone 4. The quality was surprisingly good for a mobile video chat.
