Gamescom 2022 is currently underway in Cologne, Germany. The show has been a staple of the video game industry since 2009 and has showcased some of the most influential games of all time. Dune Awakening

Based on the award-winning book series by Frank Herbert, Dune Awakening in an open-world survival MMO set on the harsh world of Arrakis. You’ll need to survive extreme heat, dehydration and massive Sandworms as you work your way to world domination. Hogwarts Legacy

Fans of the Harry Potter series will be happy to see Hogwarts Legacy, which acts as a prequel to the original book series, and places you in the shoes of a young wizard entering Hogwarts as a late arrival. We knew the game was coming for a while but we were left in the dark about the plot details until now. This newest trailer also gives us a look at the pre-order bonuses. You can add the game to your Wishlist ahead of the February 2023 release here.

New Tales From the Borderlands

Arguably as popular as the main Borderlands series of FPS games, the narrative-focused Tales From the Borderlands series is coming back from the dead. The last episode of the series ended on a cliffhanger in 2018 and this new title aims to continue the story when New Tales From the Borderlands drops on all major platforms in October 2022.

Friends Vs Friends

Friends Vs Friends joins the ever-expanding library of competitive arena shooters. This game aims to differentiate itself from the competition with a card-based power system that makes it a Fortnite meets Yu-Gi-Oh! kind of experience. It will feature 1v1 and 2v2 modes and devs boast about the lack of microtransactions. You can Wishlist the game here.

Atlas Fallen

Atlas Fallen takes place after a catastrophic event. You use your gifts to help the people piece their lives back together, summon weapons to take on legendary monsters, and discover the secrets hidden in the sands. Atlas Fallen will be a PS5-exclusive when it releases in 2023.

Moonbreaker

From the devs behind Subnautica and the narrative artistry of New York Times best-seller Brandon Sanderson comes Moonbreaker, a turn-based adventure game. The game has a customization feature inspired by miniature painting to make every character unique to the player. Moonbreaker is set to release in September 2022 and you can Wishlist it here.

In undergrad, I was the guy you’d run to if you needed a charge because I always had at least a few portable batteries in my bag. A lifelong interest in technology led me to PCMag, where I'm honing my journalism skills while also getting to nerd out about the latest advancements in computer tech. I’m a current PC gamer and a former console gamer with an unhealthy obsession with custom keyboards.

Run into me in PCMag's lab, and I'm usually benchmarking graphics cards, laptops, and desktops. That means I have a deep practical knowledge of testing software and the latest applications, games, and utilities used to generate our performance analyses. If a piece of tech isn't performing as expected, I'll be among the first to know. (You'll also find me hand-modeling for our product reviews, now and then.)

The Tech I Use

I use an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in my gaming rig at home. I use a Sony Alpha a6400 for amateur photography, but I’ll more often than not rely on the camera on my Google Pixel 9a. I also rely on a pair of Sony WH-CH700N wireless headphones to stream podcasts and cancel out noise on my daily NYC subway commute.

In my downtime, I like to play video games and tinker with home networking solutions. My current obsession is building up a media library on my TerraMaster F4-423 NAS to cut out expensive subscription services.
