With the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, $70 games became a reality and now Square Enix has decided to embrace the higher price point for PC games, too.

As DSOG reports, both Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade and Forspoken will carry a $69.99 price for the base game. The Steam page for Forspoken also lists a Digital Deluxe edition for $94.99. Final Fantasy is set to release on Dec. 16 exclusively on the Epic Games Store, where as Forspoken doesn't launch until May 24 next year. It gives Square Enix plenty of time to see how well PC gamers receive the FFVII price before Luminous Productions' action role-playing game arrives.

PC games usually receive deeper discount more quickly than console titles, but this is likely something Square Enix will be keen to prevent happening, especially on a key franchise like Final Fantasy. Even so, if few are willing to spend $70, the Japanese publisher may be forced to cut the price pretty quickly in order to shift digital copies.

Other big publishers will be keeping a very close eye on how these $70 games perform, because if the FFVII Remake still sells well, they will all be keen to embrace the same higher price.

Square Enix and Epic are enticing a FFVII purchase by including a new episode featuring Yuffie Kisaragi called INTERmission. It's described as, "a brand-new adventure in the world of Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade. Play as Wutaian ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates Midgar and conspires with Avalanche HQ to steal the ultimate materia from the Shinra Electric Power Company." There's also a number of additional weapon, armor, accessory, and summon materia included.
