Rise of the Tomb Raider (for PC) Review

Rise of the Tomb Raider isn't very different from its predecessor, which is not necessarily a bad thing, since the core is solid. Expect more gun-toting heroism, crazy cults, and supernatural oddities.

Frozen Siberia

Lara's adventure takes her from the arid deserts in Syria to the frozen wilderness of Siberia. She searches for a powerful life-giving relic called the Source, which her own father spent his life trying to find.

Solving Puzzles

Puzzle solving has been a staple of the series, and Rise of the Tomb Raider is no different. Puzzles are side objectives this time around, so the story campaign is fast paced and action-packed.

Leaps of Faith

In Rise of the Tomb Raider, platforming is fairly straightforward. Paths are almost always clearly marked, so you will always know where to climb, even when a dungeon crumbles around you.

Entering Crypts

Rise of the Tomb Raider is filled with optional crypts, which make for a great change of pace when you tire of the story's action-heavy antics.

Ambushing Trinity

You will often come to head with Trinity. How you tackle them is often left to you to decide. Ambush is a great way to whittle down enemy numbers, but gung-ho is a fine choice, too.

Beautiful Decay

Rise of the Tomb Raider has some spectacular visual details, especially on PC. The combination of lighting and shadow effects, as well as the high-quality textures, make even unimportant rooms pop with staggering beauty.
