Parrot is releasing a new version of its Anafi drone that'll come bundled with a pair of cockpit glasses.

The Anafi FPV launches this month as a $799 package that includes last year's Anafi drone model plus a headset, which you can strap on to view live video footage from the aerial bot's 180-degree camera.

The headset itself is Parrot's third-generation cockpit glasses. They work by pairing with your smartphone and Parrot's FreeFlight mobile app. You then place your smartphone inside the headset, and drone footage from the app streams through the cockpit glasses.

When you wear the device, you'll also be greeted with a virtual head-up display that'll tell you the drone's flight speed, direction, altitude, and location. With a click of button, you can shut off the HUD for a fully immersive, bird's-eye-view experience.

The headset can also access your smartphone's camera, meaning you can operate the drone without removing the cockpit glasses. "Switch to See-Through View, and you'll see live video from your smartphone camera. An overlay shows the exact position of your drone — and if your Anafi is off-screen, an icon points to its location."

The drone itself can take 4K/1080p video and 21MP photos with HDR. The front-mounted 180-degree camera can also tilt downward and up toward the sky. For more, check out our review. Expect to get 25-minute flights with it.

The Anafi FPV bundle also comes with a backpack, which you can use as a platform to launch the Anafi drone. "That means you no longer need to put your drone down on snow-covered slopes, mud and dirt, or rugged terrain as you prepare for launch," the company said.

So far, Parrot hasn't released standalone pricing for the third-gen cockpit glasses.

My Experience

I've been a journalist for over 15 years. I got my start as a schools and cities reporter in Kansas City and joined PCMag in 2017, where I cover satellite internet services, cybersecurity, PC hardware, and more. I'm currently based in San Francisco, but previously spent over five years in China, covering the country's technology sector.

Since 2020, I've covered the launch and explosive growth of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, writing 600+ stories on availability and feature launches, but also the regulatory battles over the expansion of satellite constellations, fights with rival providers like AST SpaceMobile and Amazon, and the effort to expand into satellite-based mobile service. I've combed through FCC filings for the latest news and driven to remote corners of California to test Starlink's cellular service.

I also cover cyber threats, from ransomware gangs to the emergence of AI-based malware. In 2024 and 2025, the FTC forced Avast to pay consumers $16.5 million for secretly harvesting and selling their personal information to third-party clients, as revealed in my joint investigation with Motherboard.

I also cover the PC graphics card market. Pandemic-era shortages led me to camp out in front of a Best Buy to get an RTX 3000. I'm now following how the AI-driven memory shortage is impacting the entire consumer electronics market. I'm always eager to learn more, so please jump in the comments with feedback and send me tips.

The Best Tech I've Had:

  • Xbox 360 FTW
  • The Galaxy Nexus was the first smartphone I was proud to own.
  • The PC desktop I built in 2013, which still works to this day.
