Looking to download some hot new record? Yeah, well, Google's not going to help anymore. Well, actually, it might help a little bit, but it will definitely be helping slightly less than it used to. The search giant has weeded out terms that could potentially lead to piracy from its automplete results.

The feature had long been offering up such results, as a reflection of the terms that users are actually searching for. Google has promised to address the problem for a while now, working to "prevent terms that are closely associated with piracy from appearing in Autocomplete."

Oddly, the results still seem to include certain pirate-friendly terms like Mediafire (above) and The Pirate Bay. Perhaps such selective censorship is the result of criticism that pulling site like Mediafire--which clearly also have positive uses--may be filtering out so-called "legitimate content."
