MS Accounting Tool Gets a New Name, New Beta

Today Microsoft announced the release of a public beta for Microsoft Office Accounting 2007, formerly called Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting. According to the press release, the product adds "online marketplace integration and online invoicing" in an attempt to address the "pressure...to do more business online" that small businesses feel.

Integration with eBay will let businesses select products from their inventories, list items for sale, view listing status, and download transactions. Online payment will be available via Paypal, and other online services such as Equifax will provide credit checking, online, banking, credit card acceptance, and more. Microsoft says that the beta release enhances features for day-to-day financial tasks and integrates with Outlook Business Contact Manager to give financial summaries, financial histories, and relationship histories for customers.
