At San Diego Comic-Con today, Netflix provided a first glimpse at season two of its hit series Stranger Things, and it'll have you dusting off your vinyl copy of "Thriller."

Will Byers has returned from the Upside Down, but as the closing scenes of season one suggested, he's not completely free from the nightmarish alternative reality. During a trip to the arcade with his friends, Will suddenly returns to the Upside Down and witnesses a menacing sky and a flash of The Monster, until Mike snaps him out of it.

"Nothing's going to go back to the way that it was," a voiceover says, as the opening to "Thriller" slowly builds. Especially for Will, who is not doing so well after his journey to the dark side. "A bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived," according to Netflix.

The gang is on the case, with the help of some essential 80s gear—Ghostbusters proton packs and ghost traps. But their secret weapon is still in the Upside Down; or is she?

The second season arrives on Oct. 27, just in time for some Halloween binge watching. The first season arrived a year ago, and is available for streaming on Netflix now. Also check out our roundup of TV Shows to Watch if You Love Stranger Things.

My Experience

I started out covering tech policy in DC for The National Journal, where my beat included state-level tech news and all the congressional hearings and FCC meetings I could handle. I later covered Wall Street trading tech before switching gears to consumer tech. I now lead PCMag's news coverage.

My Areas of Expertise

Getting my start in DC means I still have a soft spot for tech policy; Congressional hearings can sometimes be as entertaining as a Bravo reality show, for better or worse. But PCMag is all about the technology we use every day, as well as keeping an eye out for the trends that will shape the industry in the years ahead (or flop on arrival). I've covered the rise of social media, the iOS vs. Android wars, the cord-cutting revolution that's now left us with hefty streaming bills, and the effort to stuff artificial intelligence into every product you could imagine. This job has taken me to CES in Vegas (one too many times), IFA in Berlin, and MWC in Barcelona. I also drove a Tesla 1,000 miles out west as part of our Best Mobile Networks project. Of late, my focus is on our hard-working team of reporters at PCMag, guiding and editing their robust coverage.
