Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) returns online this year from June 6-10.
Free for all developers, the week-long event features information sessions, learning labs, digital lounges, and workshops to help solve problems, discuss ideas, and learn about the latest operating system updates across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
Rumor has it we'll also get a sneak peek at a new lightweight MacBook Air laptop, expected for release later this year. And, as Digital Trends suggests, there's a "remote possibility" Apple will unveil a larger iMac or iMac Pro.
This marks Apple's third virtual conference, first pushed online in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic. A handful of developers and students, meanwhile, will have the chance to meet in person at Apple Park on June 6 to watch the conference keynote and State of the Union videos together. Space is limited; details of how to apply will be revealed on the Apple Developer site and app "soon."
Also for the third year, Apple will host its Swift Student Challenge at WWDC, tasking young people around the world with creating a Swift Playgrounds app project "on a topic of their choice." The deadline for submissions is Sunday, April 24 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific (Monday, April 25 at 2:59 a.m. Eastern).
