If you need a tablet that will work in some pretty extreme conditions, Samsung would like you to take a look at the newly announced Galaxy Tab Active3.

The Android 11 tablet is MIL-STD-810 certified, meaning it has been tested across a wide spectrum of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, and most importantly of all for a ruggedized tablet, shock resistance. Samsung says the Active3 will withstand a drop of up to 1.5 meters using the included protective cover. Add to that an IP68 rating for dustproofing and water resistance, and this is a tablet you shouldn't need to worry about using outside. Samsung also created a version of the S Pen that's IP68 rated.

The Active3 is no slouch in the performance department, either. Samsung opted to use an Exynos 9810 processor along with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The 5,050mAh is replaceable as well as supporting fast charging through USB and POGO pins, but the tablet also includes a "No Battery Mode" to allow for power without a battery. Other nice-to-haves in a rugged tablet include a touch sensitivity option that can be turned on for when wearing gloves and an Active Key on the side of the device for instant access to the most used apps.

The rear camera on the Active3 is 13MP, the selfie camera is 5MP, and there's support for Google ARCore allowing for augmented reality functionality. Samsung sees this tablet as a great solution for business users, from construction sites to retail kiosks and everything in between. It's also guaranteeing the Active3 will get three generations of Android OS updates, which when combined with the replaceable battery means this tablet will remain useful for many years to come.

Samsung hasn't revealed pricing for the Galaxy Tab Active3, but it became available today in select European and Asian markets. Availability will expand "at a later date."
