BARCELONA—The Android umbrella continues to grow. The ubiquitous mobile operating system lives in smartphones, wearables, cars, and IoT devices, and is also coming to new markets through programs like Android One and Android Go.

MWC Bug ArtHowever, Google's malleable OS doesn't stop there. Android is also deployed widely across the business world through Android Enterprise, a framework to help make Android more manageable and deployable at scale. At the same time, Android is dealing with an ever-evolving array of security challenges and coming up with new ways to secure devices from the hardware and application levels all the way up to the Google Play store.

At Mobile World Congress, PCMag sat down with two execs leading Google's strategies across Android Enterprise and security: Sean Ginevan, Head of Global Strategy & Market Enablement for Android Enterprise, and Dave Kleidermacher, VP of Security for Android, Chrome OS, and Google Play. Ginevan and Kleidermacher, who both joined Google relatively recently, talked about new programs like Android Enterprise Recommended, how the company tackles the shifting state of Android security, and how Google is building AI into everything it does, including deep within Android.
