Have a 3-to-12-year old kid in your life with a birthday coming up? An Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablet would make a nice gift, and you can snag one for a great deal because they're back at their Cyber Monday prices for a limited time.

Deals BugThe Fire HD 8 Kids Edition, one of our favorite kids' tablets for 2020, is currently marked down to $79.99 with free shipping, a $50 discount. It features an 8-inch HD display, 32GB of storage, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and offers up to 10 hours of battery life on a charge.

If that's still a little too steep for your budget, the Fire 7 Kids Edition is $40 off at $59.99. It features a 7-inch display, 16GB of storage, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and gets up to 7 hours of battery life on a charge.

If you want a bigger screen and better specs, the Fire HD 10 is $149.99, or $50 off. It boasts a 10.1-inch full HD (1080p) display, 32GB of storage, a 2 GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and gets up to 12 hours of battery life.

These tablets come with a one-year FreeTime Unlimited subscription, a kid-friendly case (in either blue, pink, or yellow), and a two-year guarantee. If it breaks while under warranty, just send it back and Amazon will replace it.

"Amazon's tablets have a simplified interface, strong parental controls, and FreeTime Unlimited, which is basically a giant bucket of content for kids," PCMag's Lead Mobile Analyst Sascha Segan explains. "A 'parent dashboard' lets you keep track of what your children are doing and restrict their screen time. You can put multiple user profiles on the tablets as well."

The Fire 7 Kids Edition earned a good rating in PCMag's review and praise for its simple interface and large library of kid-safe content. With FreeTime Unlimited, your kid will have access to more than 20,000 age-appropriate apps and games, videos, books, Audible books, and educational content from the likes of PBS Kids, Nickelodeon, and Disney.

Don't miss your chance to snag a Fire 7 Kids Edition for just $59.99, Fire HD 8 Kids Edition for $79.99, or Fire HD 10 Kids Edition for $149.99.

My Experience

I'm PCMag's managing editor for consumer electronics, overseeing an experienced team of analysts covering smart home, home entertainment, wearables, fitness and health tech, and various other product categories. I have been with PCMag for more than 10 years, and in that time have written more than 6,000 articles and reviews for the site. I previously served as an analyst focused on smart home and wearable devices, and before that I was a reporter covering consumer tech news. I'm also a yoga instructor, and have been actively teaching group and private classes for nearly a decade.

Prior to joining PCMag, I was a reporter for SC Magazine, focusing on hackers and computer security. I earned a BS in journalism from West Virginia University, and started my career writing for newspapers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The Technology I Use

My little Florida beach bungalow is brimming with smart home tech. I have a smart speaker or display in every room, allowing me to control other connected devices by voice. The Nest Hub on my bedside table lets me set wake-up alarms, control my smart light bulbs, and set the temperature on my smart thermostat. I use the Amazon Echo Show 8 on my kitchen counter to browse recipes, reorder protein powder, check the weather, and watch the news while I do dishes.

Because I suffer from allergies, air purifiers are essential. My favorite model is the Dyson Purifier Cool TP07, which doubles as a fan and continuously sends indoor pollution data to its companion mobile app.

My pitbull Bradley sheds, so a good robot vacuum is a must. I currently use a premium Ecovacs Deebot that can both vacuum and mop, empty its own dustbin, and wash its own mop cloth.

For fitness, I like to mix up my routine with cycling, indoor rowing, running, and strength training in addition to yoga. I take classes on the Tonal 2 smart strength training machine, I row indoors on an Aviron machine, and track my beach runs with an Apple Watch while listening to music on my Apple AirPods Pro. On the weekends, I love riding e-bikes like the rugged, beach-friendly Aventon Aventure for fun and fitness.

My job involves a lot of virtual meetings, so a quality webcam, microphone, and ring light are important. I use the Jabra PanaCast 20 webcam, the Elgato Wave: 3 microphone, and a Yesker tripod ring light.

As for my preferred phone platform, I'm an iPhone person, but I've also extensively used Android for product testing.
