Taking a page from Spotify's streaming book, YouTube Music this week launched a new series of My Mix personalized playlists.

Visit the Home tab to choose from up to seven "distinct" and "diverse" lists of artists and songs, each "capturing a different corner of your music world," product manager Nathan Lasche wrote in a blog announcement.

There's a mix for every vibe, whether you want to focus, workout, or just chill; press play to hear hours of music—everything from old favorites to new discoveries—all tied together with what Lasche called "a cohesive sonic theme." My Mixes update regularly, so no two days of listening will be exactly the same. And, when you can't settle on just one setlist, tune into My Supermix (formerly known as Your Mix) for an eclectic soundtrack combining all your music tastes.

"Whether it's pushing you through the last five minutes of your workout or helping you unwind after a stressful day, music breathes life into your daily routine," Lasche said, introducing a better way to navigate the YouTube Music homepage, "to ensure every listener can easily enjoy the music that speaks to them."

A new Home tab bar offers easy access to music for four featured activities: Workout, Focus, Relax, and Commute. Simply tap the relevant task for direct access to a dedicated page full of playlists perfectly suited for training, concentrating, unwinding, or traveling. "Whatever the mood or moment, YouTube Music has the right music for you," the company blog said, directing folks to download the mobile app for iOS. Android rolled out personalized mixes over the summer.

YouTube's latest venture is reminiscent of streaming rival Spotify's Daily Mix—a series of personalized playlists "with near endless playback," introduced in 2016. Based on individuals' listening habits, the feature combines favorite tracks with new songs; the more you tune in, the better the algorithm gets at predicting what you'll like.
